90 metres high, 50 metres in diameter and a total volume of 177,000 cubic metres: Christo’s “Big Air Package” installation is an extraordinary work of art and is also the world’s largest indoor sculpture. Gleistein has helped to make this mammoth feat possible, supplying more than 4,500 metres of rope – of which around 4,000 metres alone were of the type 40mmm GeoTwist Hempex. The installation runs from 16 March to 30 December 2013 at the Gasometer Oberhausen, in Germany. It is the second time that Gleistein has been involved in a Christo project. In 1995, Gleistein also supplied the ropes for the “Wrapped Reichstag” by Christo and Jeanne-Claude.
