Steamboat (Dampfer) WELLE

“Dampfer WELLE e. V.”: Keeping tradition alive

…with GeoTwist Thempest, the original from Gleistein Ropes

"Dampfer WELLE e. V." (English: "Steamboat WAVE") is a non-profit friendly society committed to authentically restoring the "WELLE" steamboat to its former glory. Gleistein Ropes is doing its part to ensure that the vessel retains its traditional look by providing quality GeoTwist Thempest laid mooring lines that boast a natural fibre appearance. After having undergone substantial restoration, the WELLE is now on water again. The historically significant vessel was originally built in 1915 and continuously deployed on the Weser River in northwest Germany until 1975. From then until 1994 the WELLE served as a floating restaurant. Once the painstaking restoration work is complete, the WELLE - which is the oldest steamboat of its size in the Bremen region - will be a magnificent symbol of local maritime heritage.
